Char's Counterattack is after ZZ. I think 1-3 is just 0079 AKA original Mobile Suit Gundam.

ZZ is after Zeta and is also a "controversial" part because it's straight-up comedic after the nonstop grimness of 0079 and Zeta, but it eventually course-corrects to grim. Those 3 parts together with Char's Counterattack form a complete storyline I believe.

0079 (Also called just Mobile Suit Gundam) because that's the Universal Century year it takes place in, and also the real-life year it aired (1979). then Zeta Gundam taking place several years later and ZZ (Double Zeta) continuing almost directly after that. And Char's Counterattack at some point after that but it's less connected to things after the first series relatively speaking.

It gets even more complicated since there are a bunch more series taking place within the same timeframe of that series added after the fact. What I told you is release order and a storyline with some of the characters appearing for longer than one part.

I think it's more like the Marvel or old Star Wars universe and there are just a bunch of different stories set in it, or in different universes with similar concepts. But a lot of them are anime series or movies.
