I'm only 20 minutes in but I'm pissed off how they handled the ending for Election Year. Which was till now the furthest entry in the timeline. The movie after it was a prequel. Not sure where the seasons 1 and 2 of the tv show fit in

But at the end of Election Year, a presidential candidate who opposed The Purge, defeated the Founding Father's party, and took the white house. Her first act was to ban the Purge

Now is The Forever Purge. It doesn't say how long it's it's since Election Year but a news report on tv mentions that somehow The Purge got unbanned. But no further explanation. No word on what happened to that presidential, or how The Founding Fathers retook control of the nation

Basically Election Year didn't matter. It was all pointless

The first one is actually a really great horror, sci-fi, thriller fusion. It even has a fair bit of straight action in the mix. The ending aftermath draws on comedy & drama. Its sequels have failed to recapture that magic. Attempting to flesh out the details of the Purge laws, and doing some intimate political plot doesnt really click for me. At all.

This series ain't the next Saw. Honestly, the first one was pretty typical as far as home invasion movies go.

Have you seen thr TV series? It got canceled but managed to put out 2 seasons. I actually like it more than the movies. Season 2 is about what happens in between purges. Episode 1 begins with the end of a Purge and then over the season a year goes by til the season finale with the next Purge

Its even more pointless when you think about this movie after seeing the ending.

Purge gets banned again. NFF are blamed and likely removed from officeagain. The movie was nothing more than a half-asses cash grab that barely explores the entire concept of the movie.

Well anyway, I did like that it mentioned people were fighting back at the end. I think they said this is the last one they will ever do. But the final 30 seconds leaves some bit of hope. I was actually worried that the Purge was going to spread to Mexico for a second.

I actually think I might like the first purge (4th movie) the most tbh.

It went hard into the politics the first, second, and third all sorta touched on.
