I called them and I guess they referred me to a subcontractor they use. The guy I talked to was super informative. I shared the quote and design I got for the solar roof and he gave me some good questions to ask.

He said he couldn't come anywhere near matching the quote because they normally have to add onto the pricing for them to make a profit. However, I went back to Tesla with the questions he told me to ask them and he was genuinely interested in the info I got back because he also does Tesla powerwall installs.

I'm now getting a higher estimated power output due to having more active tiles in the design AND they somehow dropped the price by another $5k.

He said 3 powerwall batteries is likely overkill for my house, but I wanted it that way because of what happened this past winter. The system probably won't get installed in time for this winter either way, but thanks to you I'm gonna have an improved experience.

If Tesla doesn't deliver on what they're quoting somehow, I'm gonna have that guy do my solar install with Sunpower instead, even if it is more expensive.

I just recommend you to go with SunPower.

What's the price per panel you were getting quoted on, and what are the $ per kWh costs?
