at my job, we have two yearly speaker events - one in the spring, and one in the fall.

we decided on a speaker for November, so we asked for a bio and a picture so we could make a flyer to advertise for the event.

we get the picture and bio, make the flyer, and send it to the speaker first to see if there were any corrections, we hear nothing, so we send a follow-up email for some kinda check-in, leave a text, and leave a voicemail. all nothing. my boss also says that he'll reach out to them, but idk if he did or not.

so we cancel the event and we get an email from the speaker yesterday (the speaking event was for this week) telling us that the flyer looks good, but that the date should say for Thursday rather than Tuesday, and we inform them we cancelled it.

now they're telling us they're disappointed, how they put in this work, that we only sent the initial email, etc.

should I have sent more emails, calls, etc.?
