She describes herself as "Barely an adult", but Samara got a daughter that left home at 40 which is "very young for an Asari" Liara also have a doctorate. Asari's school does not necessary work like human ones, but they also good. It's possible her post high school life was only about 5 years despite the longer life span. The species also live up to 1000 years. What do you think?

She has a doctorate & has spent more than 50 years studying the Protheans. Even with their long life, that's mid to late 20s at the very youngest.

No, the comment is specifically mentioned after she states that she's over 100 but that is young for an Asari. Again, she has a doctorate & has spent decades in her field. She's not some teenager.

I don't think it's a 1:1 kinda thing.

like, if a human said they were barely an adult, we might think somewhere in their early 20s, which would be around a fourth of their life (by the time of Mass Effect, around a fifth).

for the Asari, they can live up to 1,000 iirc, so at 106, for example, it would be around a tenth of their life.

Agreed. It's hard to make it a 1:1 thing given the Asari's massive lifespans. Because a tenth of a human's life would be around 10 years old.

I could see her being 21, not 25.

It's not impossible that asari schools last the same number of years as human ones despite Asari having a bigger lifespan

I don't think there's a specific "human years" equivalent (there isn't really for animals either from what I've heard, it's more a turn of phrase than anything), the asari have their own life cycle that doesn't map perfectly to humanity. It seems kind of like the asari mature slower than humanity but still seem like more or less late teenager/early adult humans by the time they're 40ish, then seemingly stay that way for a century or two. Liara has a PhD and has been doing research independently for a long time, so her closest human comparable is basically someone who recently got their PhD and is now doing some teaching work at a mediocre university and grumbling that they can't afford to do the work they actually want to be doing (Liara is doing what she wants, but she feels like asari society doesn't take her seriously because of her age so I went with an example that isn't seen as having a ton of respect). Which would be mid to late 20s. And honestly that feels about right for Liara, it's not like she acts young and immature really, she's just a bit awkward socially at times which fits well enough for someone who basically just threw themselves into their studies full time and hasn't had much experience with anything outside academic work and old ruins where the only people to meet are pirates who want to kidnap you.

But she says something like "Are you sure, I am barely an adult" to Shepart when he is in his late 20s. Why would she says that if she is the same age as him?

I also think Morinth left home before she became the human equivalent of 18 as well. Just like there's an occasional outlier who move from their parent house at 16-17(it's possible with parental consent in Canada)

Barely legal. A lot of Asari wouldn't even consider her an adult.

Part of the plot is that she is so young, no one respects her work
