Current Events > This final boss in Metroid Dread (spoilers, obviously)

I've had some bosses stump me for a bit this game, but usually I get the sense I'm making steady progress against them. And even here, I can get through the first phase with full health.

But man, I'm just hitting a wall against phase two here, when he starts flying. I can dodge most of his attacks, and I hit him with missiles and power bombs when I can, but I always run out of health before he does.

Any tips?

Btw the strongest attack is tapping Y ass fast as you can.

Yeah, there's no real trick to this phase. Learn to dodge everything and blast him.

As little as it probably helps, "get good" really is the best advice. Just keep playing until you learn all his attack patterns and can dodge his attacks while plugging him full of missiles.

The black hole can be shot with 4 storm missiles to give you health and ammo. Prioritize that in the first and third phase

Use the shift move to dodge the machine gun

You can use power bombs to get rid of the black holes. I usually just space jump around Steel Beak when he's firing his machine gun.

Yeah, space jump in conjunction with the shift

You can do that to the black hole, but does it give you power bombs? I stopped trying to power bomb It and I don't remember why. I musta had a reason

Or maybe I'm dumb idk

How do you know that the guy you see at the beginning of the game and is hyped up to be the main villain all throughout the game is the final boss?

Is that a serious question

Do you even game brah? Loads of games have final bosses that come out of nowhere. Final Fantasy loves doing this shit, for example.

Lol don't waste power bombs on the black orb. That's terrible advice. They're easy enough to defeat with missiles and you need to be saving that for an attack in phase 3 that's actually the worst attack in the whole fight

You don't need that many power bombs for it.

Machine gun attack is easy to dodge by just doing the space jump around him. Don't ever stand underneath and you'll never get hit by his down thrust. And the when he flies to the side, you can quickly do a morph ball and he'll never hit you.

Second phase is the hardest, third was really easy because you already learn to dodge most of the attacks in the first round. And there are enough black/yellow orbs to refill your health and missiles.

Edit: Oh yeah, I'm curious how many energy tanks you have. This is definitely a fight that was designed to encourage exploration

Practice and it will be fine. Dont bother using your beam, focus on using your storm missiles. I had my finger held on the missile button for 99% of that fight.

Took me like 15 tries or so, but it's really all about learning the patterns very well. Anticipate what every movement means.

Just make sure you stock up with the black hole for part 2. And bomb the gold hole in 3
