no country on earth can successfully invade the US. even if china's army suddenly doubled in size and capability. people vastly underestimate the logistics of transporting massive armies across the world and maintaining the supply lines necessary to keep them there

it would be possible for canada or mexico to do it if they suddenly rivaled the US in power

I guess I was wrong again, you just meant logistics.

no, for the same reason we cant take over china. there's no way to magic an army across an ocean without being obvious as fuck, and then the nukes start flying.

They've not constructed a landing craft that can carry a billion people.

Logistics. Gotta make a billion ships and aircraft to transport all those millions of soldiers and then there's 24/7 homeland security and DOD observing unusual overseas threats as well as the military...on home turf.

We both have nuclear weapons, neither can invade the other.

The Chinese "war" would be an economic one.

If both sides agreed to no nuclear war, no

If nuclear war happened, then we all know the world is over anyways so its pointless.

China would have to have unfettered access to the entire Pacific, which would require the subjugation of Japan, Hawaii, The Phillipines, Guam, etc. By the time China exerted that level of expense, the US would already have defense plans in place, the entire populace would be anticipating the coming invasion, and a draft would have been in place already and millions of (reserve) troops trained.

There is a reason why the USA spans the entire width of North America, its to deter invasions.

Now if Russia and China tag teamed the US from the West and East (which would require Europe to basically collapse or be taken over by Russia), then it might be theoretically possible for a successful invasion to take place.

The logic is basically the same on the flip side of the coin, the US can't reasonably invade China in a traditional war that wouldn't just be wholesale slaughter of innocents or use of banned weapons. It'd have to be a coordinated effort between the US, Russia, a unified Korea, India, basically all of China's neighbors.

It's a pointless thought exercise because it can't happen and have the world be in anything recognizable

China is #3, at $1.1 Trillion

Japan is #2, at $1.2 Trillion

Guess who number 1 is

Ourselves, at $6.2 Trillion

Not really as relevant as it seems on a surface level. China just owns treasury bonds, and a default on US treasury bonds would be catastrophic for the entire world, including China. And the interest rate on treasury bonds is rock bottom low. Like lower than the average rate of inflation.

And the vast majority of US treasury bonds are owned by........the US.

Issues with trade, currency manipulation, and China's investment into developing countries, particularly in Africa, are far more important than Chinese owned treasuries

No. Not in an outright fight.
It's why all of our enemies are simply waiting for us to destroy ourselves while they pepper us with misinformation bots. Information campaigns are the simplest, safest method. Hilariously enough, it's working flawlessly.

That's what I'm expecting from this infighting. China and Russia collaborating for New World Order

edit - by takeover I mean to surpass us economically and in global influence and to supplant us as superpower, not an invasion or war:
they will, and its entirely our fault.

russia is out there supporting disruptive events in the west (like trumpism or the Hungarian dictator) , hacking other governments and stealing plans (I just saw in the news that they developed their Sputnik vaccine using stolen astra Zeneca blueprints, for example).

China is out there laying the framework for their Silk Road 2.0 and engaging in a new form of colonization by using debt and development aid to supposedly help African countries but actually ensnaring them in debt and making them give them land in exchange for the debt.

what are we doing? Getting COVID to own the libs, letting corporations get away with everything to own the libs and dehumanizing minorities to own the libs. A sizable chunk of the population and politicians are basically pro-covid, pro-mass shootings, pro-big corporations, anti-abortion, anti-science and pro-racial strife. Were biting our own tail while China lays out the foundation for world dominance.

it saddens me so much.

Nah, even ignoring logistics, you'd have armed opposition in every city. There'd be no way to take cities without razing them to the ground on a wide scale, which is counterproductive to an invasion.

Certainly not take over , but certainly weaken the US and crank them down to second both economically, militarily, and in terms of influence. Its already well on its way.

As for Russia, its certainly not in its strategic interest to team up too closely with China or open the door to strong dependency towards it. The challenges China poses to Russia are exactly the same as those faced by the rest of the world.
