... and then get an implant a few months later.

I had my wisdom teeth done in my 20's, but this is my first time otherwise. Apparently a root canal from 6-7 years ago has gone bad and the dentist said I should just toss it.

Anyone had to do this? Anyone here want to admit they have fake chompers?

I am terribly lazy when it comes to dental hygiene, which led to problem teeth. I also have a petty, unreasonable affection for the phrase "endo steel". So, yes, I do have a dental implant. My dentist is of the opinion that I could use a couple more, but my insurance isn't willing to cover more than one (the new implants would be too close together, or something.)

I don't recall the procedure being terribly objectionable, what with anesthetic, although I do recall being disconcerted by the incongruity of A) I can glimpse some of the instruments and feel my head being pushed around a bit and yet B) agony is failing to materialize. The only advice I would give you is to double-check that your insurance agrees with your dentist about what they'll cover.

have you considered an apicoectomy? Those are sometimes done when a root canal fails. But anways, this happens with a lot of people.

i had a tooth removed but not replaced. i was saying in middle school they should take it out and let the wisdom tooth replace it, but no that was too smart of an idea. instead they had to remove it 18 years later and not replace it.

I got a veneer recently for a tooth that was slightly darker than the rest due to a surgery I had when I was 14 or so. My dental insurance covered almost 100% of the procedure so I was like, sure, why not.

You cannot tell at all it's a fake tooth. I had to go about three times to ensure the color was juuuust right, but it was worth it for sure. It was a little weird at first since you can sorta feel the difference with your tongue, but that's the only con I can think of.
