What the hell

I went through a bunch of shenanigans in June through August trying to get a replacement social security card.
  • Ordered a replacement copy in early June. USPS Informed Delivery said I should have received it on June 21st. It never came in.
  • Ordered another replacement copy because I never received the 1st one. USPS Informed Delivery said I should have received it on July 16th. It never came in.
  • Ordered a 3rd replacement. Received it on August 7th.


At that point, I stopped checking my mail as often because I wasn't expecting any more super important mail to come in other than bills. I checked my mailbox for the 1st time this month today and a 4th social security card that I didn't order came in. I looked at my emails and there was a new USPS Informed Delivery notice for September 10th about this 4th one.

What is going on!? It's definitely a 4th copy because it's the only one of the 4 envelopes from the Social Security Administration that isn't timestamped. The card itself is, though.

Timestamps:
  • 1st envelope: 6-17-2021
  • 2nd envelope: 7-12-2021
  • 3rd envelope: 8-03-2021
  • 4th envelope: Just a weird symbol where the timestamp would be.

The SSA says they didn't get a new application for another one. They're saying sometimes duplicate orders get processed, but they aren't sure exactly what happened.

Weird

I'm probably going to call the local SSA office tomorrow to see if they know more.
