It's so fucking bad; the stage design is abysmal. The controls are awful. The fact that you have to HOLD A BUTTON TO RUN is completely nonsensical. But even compared to the other "bad" 3D Sonic games (most of them, basically), Lost World has worse controls, worse platforming and worse level design. The most bizarre thing about it, though, is that the production values are among the best of any Sonic ever. The graphics are incredible, especially by Wii U standards, and the general presentation is excellent.

What's so bizarre to me is that the art direction and visuals are so nice. Almost Nintendo-quality. I don't know how they could put that much effort into the presentation and then take a huge turbo-dump in the actual game design itself.

But haven't Sonic games historically had good graphics? Sonic Unleashed (apart from the frame rate) and Generations looked incredible.

I actually think Lost World looked better than both. It was a legitimately incredible looking game with a smooth art style that just worked.

Generations was great but somewhat uneven visually. Still the best of the "modern" Sonic games by a country mile, though.
