Windows 10 PC.

One of my HDDs are pretty much dead, its the one with my user on, desktop, my documents etc. My SSD has the OS. Dont ask me why its like that. I have a nee HDD that I wany yo change my stuff to.

So yhe problem is when I wanna downlaod FFXIV it automaticly tries to write stuff in the broken HDD cuz my documents are there. Even if its installed on another HDD i wanna use.

So I wonder if I can my the good HDD somehow my defauly one. Or do I need to reboot everything?

You will need to reinstall. Backup of documents, videos, music and so on is possible.

Ive done this with desktop and my documents but all it did was just create new of those folders, cant copy since the HDD crashes when it starts writing. But no programs etc recognize them on the new HDD.

Maybe remove the broken HDD and create a new user on the new one? Does that work?

I play some steam games that doesnt use my folders in the broken HDD like stuff that goes in my documents etc. But wanna get that 15 day free game time but I cant even log in cuz the client cant update the game cuz it defaults to the broken HDD to update.

I'd just get the stuff you need that can be salvaged off broken HDD and start anew TC

Can you access the files on your old drive?

For a short while sometimes when I restart my computer. But when the drive has to be active (likr just opening a folder) it dies. Ive been slowly trying to back up important stuff.

You can just uninstall FFXIV, remove the HDD and then try to install it

I did eventually manage to uninstallnit on the broken drive and install it on the new one but when I can still only start the client when the broken drive is active, can start the update but then the drive dies and the update is cancelled. Im gonna try to unplig the dead drive but I got a feeling it wont work since it will still try to use the bad drive.

I think I got it finally work. FFXIV updating at 25%. Used to crash at less than 1%.

I manage to delete the FF folder on my broken drive and once again did the change location thingy.

And now when I wanted to update it found the my documents in the new drive.
