im thinking blastoise, raichu, arcanine and then either fearow/dragonite, and either golem/nidoqueen/rhydon and either primeape/snorlax

Dragonite because Dragon types are badass and in Gen 1 super useful.

Golem because personally I've never used one so in your shoes I'd give him a shot.

I could go either way when it comes to Snorlax or Primeape. Unless I catch a Mankey at the start I won't bother getting a Primeape and Snorlax is more convenient since you can catch it at a decent level without having to train.
