You're probably thinking of lats. They're the ones that prevent very muscular people from having their arms lie flat against their body, and a desire to look like you have them makes people artificially hold their arms out and look silly.

It's a combination of that and their body looks pulled back. I want to say rhomboids. A person doesn't even have to be that buff, but if they have that posture, they just look like they're fit.
