I love all the Middle-earth movies, but Fellowship of the Ring is legit like on its own level of excellence. The other two definitely start going off the rails a little bit in terms of changes from the source material. Still amazing movies of course, but there are definitely a few questionable choices. Agreed and I like the Fellowship book the most as well. Both just have a special feel the others don't. Plus Fellowship the movie is the closest to its respective book so there's that.

I agree. It's like most trilogies though. They could have had the first one and just ended it there and it would have been just as good.

The actor they chose for Frodo was miscast in all of them. He looked the part, but the acting was annoying.

All three movies are of course excellent. I think when I was younger I liked Fellowship the least, but that's changed for sure. I still might give the top spot to ROTK. It's tough to decide.

They're all great, and they each have some incredible scenes that everybody remembers. Ranking them would be very difficult for me.

Return of the King is my least favorite. The battle at Gondor didn't feel as epic as Helm's Deep. The army of the dead coming through the orcs like CGI scrubbing bubbles was lame.

I feel like the more casual fans tend to prefer Two Towers or Return of the King because of the epicness of them, while people who were fans of the book first tend to prefer Fellowship of the Ring.
