Probably not, but it doesnt seem like the virus is going away, so I dont really see what difference it makes. People are not following the guidelines.

Most people stayed inside for two weeks and then had their little I cant take it anymore! meltdown and went back to their daily life.

could we be much safer opening up if we had a year long travel ban in/outside the country?

I don't think vaccine saturation is where it needs to be to really be considering it so no, not really.

Here anyone can get the vaccine . Once its available to anyone who wants it, I say yes we should. Everyone who wanted the vaccine is protected and anyone who didnt is going out at their own risk.

I am tired of this endless rollercoaster of ineffective half-measures.

I wish we could just get it right for once.

Kinda agree with your point but there's two important caveats - firstly that "available" needs to include whether it's actually practical to receive the shot, not just whether you're nominally eligible; and secondly, that even once it's made available it's going to take some time for people to actually receive it.

I'd say once everyone's either gotten the shot, or had reasonable opportunity to get the shot but hasn't done so, that's when it's time to open up.
