The Centre Party (Dutch: Centrumpartij, Dutch pronunciation: [sntrmprti], CP) was a Dutch nationalist extreme right-wing political party espousing an anti-immigrant program.

[...]

The party's initial manifesto was titled "not left, not right," and combined right-wing, left-wing and green political positions. Its tenth point contained its immigration stance; "The Netherlands is not an immigrant country, so put a stop to the stream of foreigners."

They used to be lumped in with their Germanic neighbours ("Deutsch") but over time Dutch came to specifically refer to the people in the low country

You could say Netherlander though; and they call themselves Nederlander, but it's a bit more ungainly. I have heard of some people who prefer it though as a point of distinction (and national pride) between themselves and the Germans

This, so it's kinda weird to post about it now, though interestingly, a relatively recent Dutch party called Forum for Democracy also claimed to be 'beyond left or right', though they quickly turned out to be populistic right-wing. A few months ago it pretty much fell apart due to its leader failing to condemn anti-semitic and racist outings within its own party (and even seemed to be fine with them to a degree).

It's not unheard of that every once in a while a new party pops up, acting like it's the big new thing that's gonna change everything and claiming it's beyond 'box-thinking' as 'left' and 'right', but most of the time such parties turn out to very clearly think in a specific box that already exists and lost popularity for a good reason. Just like with the 'Centre Party'.

Dutch = Deutsch (German)

That may be where the term originated from, but those are two different languages. Dutch is the official language of the Netherlands. Deutsch is the German word for the language German.

false. Dutch is just the english word for the language spoken in The Netherlands. Unsurprisingly, the word for 'dutch (language) in Dutch is Nederlands. The people are Nederlanders.

Not it changes much in the schedule of things, seeing as how this cabinet's term was almost over anyway. Next general elections will take place in March, as originally scheduled.

Low countries are Belgium and Netherlands. They speak Dutch in the Netherlands and in the Flanders part of Belgium. In the Wallony part of Belgium they speak French, and also German in a small part.

Hmm I was thinking of the "low countries"

The terminology is a bit confusing:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_Countries

These days, the 'low countries' (the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg) do internationally cooperate a lot. Although they're seperate countries, together they're known as Benelux.

Yeah but then it's basically called the Benelux.
Also Luxemburg is cool because their cigarettes are way cheaper because of tax stuff.
