My grandma is like 87, literally zero reason for her to go out.

I am going out because my grandma wants to buy me christmas gifts, so I said work shirts because I've lost some weight and I don't have too many anyways.

I said I could go out, pick out what I actually want, and she can pay me back, or whatever. No. She HAS to go, to purchase them herself.

I'm going with them simply because this is the better alternative to them picking out stuff on their own that naturally won't be the right style, color or size that they will just have to return.

This is fucking pathetic. In the middle of probably the worst of the pandemic my mom and grandma HAVE to go out like this. I'm going out to prevent them from having to go out again to return the things they would buy for me that would probably be wrong.

But since my grandma will be there to buy the clothes, they will get a chance to sit in her house infested with cigarette smoke for like 3 weeks before I can get them as gifts.

This whole thing has me pissed off to some degree because of how pointless it all is. I could just drive to a store, pick out and buy some stuff, and she can repay me at a later date. We could still wrap them, here(in a non smoke infested house), and I can open them in 3 weeks.

We're in the middle of a pandemic, folks. Zero reason for my 87 year old grandma to go out to one of the busiest shopping centers in the tri county area(the closest one to her house), but it is what it is i guess.

........sorry for the rant, folks. I'm just over how careless and dumb people are being. But at least they won't have to make a second trip to return stuff that they would have if they bought me clothes blind.

So what...you never know when she might drop dead one day (not to sound harsh) so try to spend some time with her during the Holidays.

Lost both my Grandmothers already so savor the moment and just say 'Thanks'...

Thats just dumb.

I'll be seeing her later on in the holidays, and certainly I'd go over her house to hang out. But going shopping with my 87 year old grandma during the so far worst of the pandemic isn't really at all what I'd want to do.

ah yes, christmas rush in the middle of the pandemic going out to one of the busiest shopping centers in the area with my at risk(because she is 87) year old grandma.

Let me savor this moment and choke out a half assed "thanks" like this isn't a really stupid thing to do.

I'm actually looking out for my grandma when I suggest I go to a store, pick out some shirts, and have her pay me back at a later date.

I'm glad I am getting gifts, absolutely. I do need some new work shirts. I am not glad my grandma insists on going out during the worst of the pandemic(so far).

edit: my comment about letting out a half assed thanks wasn't about getting gifts. It was about savoring the experience of going out with my grandma in all this.

Again, not to sound negative, but who to say she will be alive then? Alot could happen btw now and X-Mas.

Unless you live with her or you see her on a regular basis, again, just savor the moment and stop whining.
