Probably just succumbed to right wing propaganda and bought it easier than most because of the more prosperous time they lived in. They still think the world is the same as it was back then. And maybe all the lead paint and asbestos eventually caught up with them too.

My parents were, and they're still pretty far left.

The old adage is that you're heartless if you're not a liberal in your youth and brainless if you're not a conservative as you get older.

The basic concept being that the more money you get, the less willing you are to pay taxes.

But shitloads of people don't have much in savings or in the stock market, so that inherent growth in generational self-interest trend isn't really happening on a widescale for folks in their thirties and younger anymore.

You tend to get more conservative as you age. But I think the main problem is propagandistic rightwing media like fox news, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill Oreilly, Glenn Beck, etc. They're to blame for A HUGE AMOUNT of the boomer conservatism.

No one changed.

Most people don't start voting until they are middle-aged. You're assuming young voters represent their entire generation.

I think a big part of it also is theyre so tech stupid they believe everything they read online and in chain emails.

Boomers were always a weirdo hyperconservative generation. Don't be fooled by the handful of hippies that got a lot pf press. Reagan won the youth vote ffs.

It's mostly due to the extremely prosperous times they lived in (every high schooler had a fancy sports car.) Then they huffed the lead coming out of those cars and got brain damage that caused them to be gullible to propaganda and unable to comprehend a changing world.
