Ostensibly it's a reasonable comment and purports to be simply a person who is fed up with talking about dreary subjects, but it's too often a dog whistle.
It's very much like the "It's fine if you're gay, just don't go shoving it down my throat all the time" line of argument, from people who have never once questioned a straight couple holding hands or kissing in public before. It's mostly done by right wingers who are mad that the people they like are calling them and Trump out on their bullshit, but it can happen in other ways too. I stopped watching a couple of guys on youtube due to politics. One became a Trumper (under the BS "moderate" label) and the other kept reviewing political stuff when he didn't do much before and while I agreed with him I got tired of getting preached to so to speak, but that was only part of the reason why I stopped.
