Oh fuck, its Peacemaker! HBO Max is set to explore the origins of the Peacemaker character, the master of weapons from the highly anticipated upcoming The Suicide Squad film, in the new Max Original action-adventure-comedy series Peacemaker. HBO Max has given a straight-to-series order of eight episodes for the first season of the show. John Cena will reprise his role from The Suicide Squad movie to star in the series, and the films acclaimed writer/director James Gunn will write all eight episodes of Peacemaker and will direct multiple episodes, including the first. Gunn and The Suicide Squad producer Peter Safran will serve as executive producers of the series, with Cena as co-executive producer. Based on characters from DC, Peacemaker will be produced by Gunns Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company in association with Warner Bros. Television. Peacemaker is scheduled to begin production in early 2021, prior to Gunn beginning work on the next Guardians of the Galaxyfilm.

I hope not and kinda be a waste to devote such time for him, just to kill off that easily

plus I think he does have long term potential like introduce characters like Blue Beetle (both Ted Kord and Jaime Reyes versions), The Question, and Captain Atom as well as Cena hamming it up

I don't know why the DCEU keeps releasing things like this out of order, beforehand. Like how they released BvS before Wonder Woman or any of the characters got their own movies, and now Peacemaker before Suicide Squad is even out.

Like, why should we care? What if the movie also flops?

It's similar to how Square Enix released a shit ton of FFXV spinoffs before the actual game came out, and nobody cared about them so they basically just wasted a ton of money for no reason.

I don't see the problem though, it just means they have good faith what they have seen with Gunn and Cena plus I always a good connection between the superhero movies and TV connecting and so far before the Disney+ shows like WandaVision, Marvel had completely failed to deliver

DC, on the other hand, manage to outdo Marvel with it and now establishing a larger multiverse

I agree, its stupid, though with this talent (from director to cast) I have better hopes than usual.

A bunch of the trailers and stuff have featured Cena pretty consistently, so I'm expecting more like "that guy you don't care about but gets enough development you kinda care when he grows a bit and makes a heroic sacrifice" like say, Diablo did in the original movie.
