My understanding of the details is way out of date, but originally iirc the story was that her house was connected with a drug dealer who used that address as a mail drop and supposedly Breonna had a past relationship with. The house was targeted in a simultaneous bust with another house to try and catch the whole ring, but when they kicked down the door Breonna's boyfriend started shooting and when they fired back they hit her. The Crux of the case largely boils down to whether there was sufficient evidence for a no-knock warrant on that house and who fired first.
