i'm on act 3, did most sidequests and tales, and i'm just... tired. Every quest works out to be exactly the same thing of go here, kill mongols, leave, and while it was fun at first, i just started skipping any non tale sidequests because i'm 100% sure it'll be the same thing Ugh.

That's my major issue with these large, open world games nowadays. Just seems to be always be about 60% filler nonsense that no one remembers.

I found the game just got to the point where it would overstay it's welcome had it gone on any longer.

Im only a couple hours into Act 2 but slicing motherfuckers up in this game does not seem like itll ever get old to me.

Yes, some of the side content is repetitive but its still far superior to the side quests in something like AC: Odyssey.

Same. Literally just beat Act 2 last night. Did all the side quests and found all the locations.... and now another third of the island opens up lol.

Another tiny thing that bugs me to no end, is how slow small aspects of the game are. Like after beating a quest, it shows your XP bar, and you can't skip over it. You just have to wait for it to fade away. Idk why but it feels like that takes forever.

Agreed. By the time I got to the third chapter I was ready for it to be over and just sort of bulldozed through the remaining character sidequests.

I'm past the intro to Act 3 where you reach the temple camp and finally decided to take a break from the game after playing it as often as you probably did. Would suggest doing the same and then go back to it when you're ready to finish the story.

Way too long of a game. I felt the length made what would have made a 9/10 game drop down to a 7.5/10. A lot of the quests with the side NPC climax were really awful. Their story endings were poorly written, not well thought out, and rushed.

You kind of solved your problem in OP. Just stop doing side quests >_>. Think of them as being there for people who want to mess around with the combat and what not. My gaming experiences got better when I stopped treating side content like anything other than the name suggests.

Why get mad at a whole meal because you don't like green beans and green beans are an option? Just don't eat the green beans.

well i hear theres no reason to return to this game after you beat it, so I've been trying to get the most of my first run and now i am just about tired of this game. I'm pretty sure i'm on the last 2 story quests and I can't even bring myself to continue lol i guess ill just power through it

I use to do the same. That's why I stopped doing any side stuff that felt like a chore. I wasn't finishing games. That just makes doing those side quests even more pointless. Im playing Yakuza right now and I love how easy they make it for you to focus on whatever you want. But they also make the side content actually interesting by writing unique content for each one.

They have to dumb things down for console players and make things simple as possible. If it was a PC exclusive or was on PC too they'd make add more variety but they know they could get away with a generic game with generic gameplay.

I been saying for awhile,Ubisoft should just stick to building the world and let more conscious people flesh it out with content. Apparently not Sucker Punch tho. That's who made this one right?

also i'm pretty sure they just added fake tension to the tales at the end as many of them make no sense

tomoe was literally seen cheering as she was burning all of ishikawas stuff and we're supposed to believe she was doing that to keep the people alive? lady adachi randomly attacks jin for not letting her kill junshin on the spot? Norio suddenly becomes the terminator after his brother reveals he snitched?

Funny reading this topic. I haven't played this but I've watched like 2-3 hours of gameplay videos and I was like, "filler already?" At least the game looks beautiful, worth a play for the visuals alone.

Or you could just flesh it out with good mini stories like Yakuza series does. They've made so many of those and they're still pumping out interesting mini stories in every one.

Thats why I (and lots of people) consider Breath of the Wild the best open world game. All killer no filler. Instead of traveling from point to point checking off side quests, the game makes you actually want to explore the map. Exploring and traversing the terrain is fun and not a chore.

I agree with this. I also found San Andreas to be an excellent open world game as well. One of the smaller overall GTA maps compared to today, but it still feels much larger than IV and V's because of how much variety there is to it, things to do in it (that are actually fun), and the wacky AI and physics and secrets always keep me entertained. I always discover something new or wacky each time I play.

I could never consider BotW the best open world game with that shitty ass weapon durability system. Few mechanics have so utterly annoyed me as that.

I hit this point with Red Dead Redemption 2 sometime in Act 3, I believe. I've come to realize that huge open-world games just don't do it for me anymore unless they're exciting the whole time.

I think the part about RDR2 that got me was all the horse riding. There are only so many hours I'm willing to spend sitting on a horse while it auto-paths like three miles on a dirt road to get to a mission where I'm like 30% likely to ride a horse for another 3 miles.

Traveling in GTA is fun, because driving/flying is fun. Spider-Man is fun because swinging/zipping is fun. RDR2 travel is not fun, because riding a horse at like 30 mph just isn't very fun after doing it for ten hours.

The thing with open world is devs and players think that you need to explore every nook and cranny and have things happening all the time for it to be worth it.

The new god of war has an open world section but the sidequests and explorarion didn't feel bloated or empty, just right.

I actually LOVED RDR2 playing through it. The gunplay was cool, it never got old busting into towns and having standoffs. I haven't played it much since I beat it but I actually enjoyed it.

GoT i got bored halfway through act 2 and I just wanted to finish the named tales and end the game honestly. I don't think I ever properly learned how to duel i just zerged them
