-starting the msq off with garbage babysitting quests was awful (even if it to tease a prospective apothecary class)
-the elidibus solo instance was awful
+the heroes gauntlet was actually quite cool, running across novrandt and seeing dudes from the msq pop up
-the trial, while cool visually, was extremely unfun and i dread anyone who has to do that shit in trial roulettes
+y'shtola's speculation about hythlodaeus was cute, but like she said we can never know his true intentions
+haldric showing signs of recovery was quite nice
+arbert's farewell to seto was wholesome
-the fourth wall breaking alisae and alphinaud did was corny as shit and extremely jarring
+g'raha tia being back for real as a scion is truly heartwarming
-?who the fuck is a fandaniel and why should i care about him?

random thoughts: it sucks that ryne wont be continuing along with us on the source even though we know this from eden's verse, because she has been a far better character than both minfillia and lyse put together
the posing that the scion's did in mor dhona was funny as fuck

closing thoughts: while it is cool that we've ostensibly become the bearer of torch for hades' will, the post shb story has been extremely weak. the stakes they try to force upon you falls flat on its face because there was never once any tension about the fates of the scionss and even the exarch himself because his death would undermine the entire process of creating the crystals. elidibus was ultimately felled like a chump. leaving the only prospective villain at this point to be zenos, who is by rights a garbage character, the future of the story is looking very bleak

I might not even bother doing the ex trial again. They have been developing a terrible habit of forcing in this awful cinematic bullshit into fights that make farming not fun. In shinryu were made today they'd have to have Estinien show up and star driver him in a cut scene while shinryu uses protostar

I agree, the need to interject cinematic bullshit into major fights lately has been quite annoying

on that note, the nier raid was absolutely garbage and quite possibly the worst 24 man they've ever released

Story was fucking incredible after the babysitting. Loved the world tour of Norvrandt that was the Heroes Gauntlet dungeon. Having former dungeon bosses assist you in a fight is awesome.

The solo duty was a fun trip to see how far you've come. Also a reminder that you've killed a lotta people.

Graha Tia is the fucking best. They were pulling on my heart strings with him the whole time. The OG FF1 Warrior of Light was used in an interesting way. His fight is fucking crazy for a normal trial. There is so much happening in the second half of that fight. Emet Selch coming in for the save was shocking and great. Didn't quite realize it was him until he did his walk.

Well, we weren't fighting the heroes in their full forms but rather just like their aether or essence or something. Tbh that aspect of the narrative seemed kinda contrived that they could even be summoned that way so I tried not to think about it too hard.

I looked up Fandaniel and all I found that was legit was this bit describing Hashmal.

Scion set by the gods to wield and manipulate the laws of this world, and with holy power lead mankind to order. Created in opposition to Fandaniel the Protector, scion of light. Desiring to bring order to all things, he joined with Ultima in her battle against the gods. He gave his body to the Thousand-Years War, and when his strength was spent, down into the burning inferno he fell.

Elidibus just needed more time, they tried to put too much development into such a short window because they are obsessed with keeping their schedule. Solo Duty was okay, Trial was meh but the music and theatrics were cool. The dungeon is kinda easy but it looked good like most dungeons in Shadowbringers.

Did not give a single fuck about Haldric through the entire expansion nor during this patch.

Nah this was the right time to wrap up Elidibus. Now if we wanted to say, Stormblood shouldn't have ignored the Ascians for like 4 main patches and they could have seeded some more build up then, I think that would be a very fair point

I did the Extreme Trial as Monk and I don't think I'll ever do it again.

And I was going to do the Nier raid today, but I kind of dont give a shit because Nier glams are basic as fuck and everyone and theres nothing else to gain from it cept a token that I can wait a couple more days to get. Or just not bother period because meh.
