A guy on ERA was looking to trade his 1080 for a 1070 or a 1070Ti because he was looking to build a small-form PC and his 1080 wouldn't fit the tower. My 1070 apparently would fit, since it's a little thinner. He said he was willing to take the slight downgrade in performance rather than having a card he can't use anyway.

A little on the side of "too good to be true" but the guy seemed legit and ERA is a small enough community where the risk felt smaller that if it was a Reddit or Craigslist post.

Did the trade, made sure to confirm the card was working and not stressed, got pictures, etc. Ended up costing me about $75 to ship out my card which was more than I expected (damn box was too long for the flat rate). But still worth the cost for the fairly beefy upgrade. Card just came in and is working great. I haven't tried to push it yet because of work, but it's handling SoulCalibur 6 at max settings, 175 scaling on a 1440p monitor with no problem. I'm a little scared to try 200 scaling lol. My old card could barely handle 125 scaling.

SC6 isn't exactly the most taxing game. I'm gonna see how far I can push Control, which I think is currently my most graphically demanding game on PC right now.

Blogpost for the day--I'm just stoked at the random upgrade to my computer and the fact that I didn't get scammed.

can you feel the difference? i've never actually upgraded an individual piece

You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

I won't have time to really mess with it until later tonight, but the ease with which it handled ramped up specs for SC6 and Ace Combat 7 (at 200 resolution scaling from 1440p!) makes me very excited.

the 1070 for a 1440p monitor equipped with gsync was realistically all i ever needed. but there were some games where i started to feel like i should have just got 1080p to make the 1070 last longer at max/ultra settings. but now that I fell into this upgrade, i think my pc is good to go for another 5 years or so

not that i actually play video games these days lol
