I see a lot of people blaming Trump solely for it but what role do you think American culture has to play in it

Americans tend to have a near-visceral disdain at being told to do anything for the benefit of someone else.

Some Americans are too stupid to think for themselves. Those were the people that needed Trump to be a leader in this crisis. They basically would follow Trump off a cliff to their deaths, and here we are.

I think what is crippling the US more than anything is it's dependency on a quick-turnaround economy. Capitalism is kind of trash and the thousands of newly-homeless and newly-unemployed are a testament to that.

On a global scale, the current crisis is demonstrating how far a "super power" can fall from grace due to poor leadership, uneducated citizens and dependancy on a flash-in-the-pan economy.

It certainly doesn't help but we also have a president and half our politicians acting like this is either a hoax or something that can just be ignored

I think it's overstated in comparison to American governance
