What happens to people who fall into this trap? They're basically too good for minimum wageslaving jobs but those are the only ones who will accept them. A lot of them just end up unemployed forever because they can't escape this cycle.

Well sometimes that doesn't help either like you might need to have a degree or some experience to get those jobs. A lot of these people don't have that.
