Reminds me of Street Fighter 5 sorta

I checked it out again after the NEXT update and really enjoyed it; then played it again when VR support was added. Both times, I really enjoyed the first 20ish hours, and then I kinda hit a wall where I got kind of bored of the exploration side of things.

I contrast that with my recent experience picking up Minecraft again after several years... Exploring the procedurally generated world in Minecraft is infinitely more satisfying IMO for a number of reasons -- one of them being actual biome variation within the same world, and the variety of interesting topographical results from the generation. NMS' planets have some pretty interesting procedurally generated stuff, but you kind of get the gist of a planet and its flora/fauna really quickly. And once you visit enough planets then you really start to see the patterns. The aliens start to look really samey.

So for now I'm tabling it, at least until they refactor the exploration and procedural generation side of things to be more interesting. I do appreciate that HG seem to really be invested in updating and maintaining the game -- lots of little updates and things that are pretty cool.

Its a game produced by a game developer, without a marketing team or PR guy. Yeah the launch was a disaster because the PR was bad, because the team consisted of designers and developers. After the launch disaster the team got back to work and said "lets finish the job off right". I think thats commendable. The launch was unfortunate but the effort being put in by the team is obvious and they shouldnt be hated for their poor PR
People like poster #4 are quite sad
And yes this is quite different from say, Bethesda, a giant corporation with money to burn, releasing unfinished garbage like every game theyve release in the past decade, who dont care about developing a good product whatsoever even though they have the resources to do so

That fuckwad straight up lied about several of the features. And some of those initially promised features are still not implemented, including one of the selling points, which was true massively online multiplayer.

He said you could "absolutely" find other people in the worlds, interact with them, and so on, implying there was an MMO component.
