Board 8 > i want to talk about one very specific spoiler in FF7 Remake and nothing else

i haven't played the game and probably won't for a while, but as far as i can tell this particular thing doesn't have an impact on the actual plot in any way.

BUT i want to discuss the photo in the Shinra HQ building that shows FFX-2's Shinra in a company photo.

i love that square did this. i've given up being super cereal about the purity of these games and their plots. bring on the wackiness (as long as it's not more kingdom hearts bs of nobodies and heartless and somebodies and everyone is everyone else)

You also have to remember that Shadowbringers takes place on an entirely different world so nier being canon is exclusive to that world and not Eorzia where the main game takes place.

how long does it take to get to shadowbringers/nier/ff12 content

also how much is the monthly fee again because dear lord what am i getting into

Except you expressly meet Fran and she alludes that Ashe is leading the resistance after the fall of Rabanastre. Also you meet ba'gamnan and his brothers. The only thing missing is Vaan and Penelo making an appearance to concrete it.

I will allude that certain dungeons and areas are callbacks to older games but that much stuff is hard to bypass.

It will take you literal months to get to the Shadowbringers stuff at that rate. FF14 isnt like most MMOs where you just blindly grind and quest to max level and go to the next expacs content. You have to do the main story quests and then all the lead up main story quests that ease into the next expac, then do all of that and its lead up.

I'll just say that from the end of OG FF14s main story up to the beginning of Heavensward is literally 100 quests. That includes multiple dungeons I believe. They plan on shortening that for 5.3 to make it easier but with 1-2 hours a day, you are looking at a timely investment.

Also the sub for 1 character is 12.99 a month.

Well in two months they're streamlining the base game to go faster and trimming a lot of the filler. So definitely wait until then, and then do the free trial which should get you halfway through the base game.

At a few hours a day yeah it's gonna take you 2-3 months. But you wouldn't really want to rush into Shadowbringers either and the free trial + free first month should get you to Heavensward, which is also very very good and should give you an idea of if the rest is worth it.

No, at some point they expanded it to be level 35. I think they axed the time limit as well, and the story stops either right before or right after Titan. It still has a bunch of features restricted but it's pretty good now from what I hear.

Also I'm not counting the patch story as part of the base game. It USED to be about as long as the 1-50 story but they're changing that specifically

No, you can just download the free trial without buying anything and get to 35 at your own pace. In fact you could get MULTIPLE things to 35 at your own pace because you're allowed to freely switch jobs in this game. Then to get past the level cap and the story block you'll have to buy the base game, at which point you get a free month. And then when you're done with all the ARR stuff (or hit the level 50 cap and are convinced) you can buy Shadowbringers which includes all the past expansions as well (though there might be a bundle that includes both base+expansion that could be cheaper but idk)

Yes, it uses the typical FF job system where one character can be any/all of the classes. You dont need to make a different character to level a paladin if you started as a white mage. Just change jobs.

You still have to level the job obviously.

Nah you can do everything 100% solo and use the duty finder to get matched with other randos in the queue.

Even raids like Nier and the like you can just queue up and get 24 other random jobbers doing it too.

Yeah the main game is designed to be done solo questing with occasional rando matches for dungeons and special boss fights.

People joke a lot how it's almost like an MMO specifically designed for antisocial people
