I'm just saying it would have been a less bitter pill to swallow if they hadn't had two episodes where Steven tried to open the chest with stuff he found and gave it so much focus. If it was just a background detail Steven never interacted with maybe. But they drew even more focus to it by randomly having it be open in the movie. They didn't have to have it be open but it made people, of course, be like OH HERE WE GO WE ARE GONNA KNOW especially with the SUF initial premise from the creators literally being "questions we never got to answer in the original series". They didn't have to show it be open. By the end of times I was ready for them to even offhandedly say it was Steven's organic varsity jacket which was a stupid idea I hated but I like it a lot more now compared to the answer we got. Steven Universe and Steven Universe Future were amazing shows but I still wanna know what was in that chest. ... Copied to Clipboard!
