If you look at their numbers, they never really ramped up even though they have a good sized population with a lot of international travel. And I heard their top doctor on the news today saying it would be a long time before they considered lifting social restrictions...an unusual comment for a province that is almost at 0 new cases daily.

Are their numbers just bullshit? Anyone who lives there can chime in on the reality?

Seems fine.
No - I'm saying those results on that page, those are being reporting by the government. The question is are those numbers bullshit because the province is underreporting due to lack of testing etc.

The ctv page shows the number of tests.

We got lucky with the way our spring break falls.

What's the situation like in BC? I've been wondering what happens when the cases start to trail to 0. Do they start reopening stuff? Is everything closed in BC except grocery stores and pharmacies or have they been more lenient? Any word on reopening now that cases are dwindling?

Same as it's been for the last couple weeks. Restaurants and fast food are still open but no sit down meals and they bring the food outside to you. Places like the liquor store and home depot are still open as well

You don't need any more of that.

I live in BC. I went to Metrotown mall and pretty much everything was closed, but the model shop I go to was still open. Things have definitely closed down and common populated areas are pretty much desolate. That being said, I don't know anyone who is sick and while restrictions are in place, some non essential stuff still seems to be open. I think our situation is fairly under control here, but obviously the danger of the virus is still present.

So what's next then? You can't keep everything closed forever. What are they using to make a decision for the next step here now that the situation is under control?

Aren't everyone's numbers bullshit? So many people are staying home, lots of people aren't being tested around the world.

I live in Victoria BC and lots of places are closed here, plenty of people still out though. We have a large homeless population and honestly it's really only a matter of time before it affects them.

No idea. Wait until the health officer and province tell us what the next step is I guess.

I don't get why people say this.

33rd per capita, and dropping.

The restrictions on who can get tested are insane, Canada is doing a terrible job testing.

This happened here in Ontario but what was actually happening is that the testing capacity was increasing a lot but the number of people tested was going down because basically the only people that were being tested is once you're bad enough to go to a hospital for it and those numbers were going down. So now they're saying they are going to do some proactive testing with front line workers, nursing homes etc before they get to the hospital and do some intelligence gathering that way.

Right there with South Korea. Wouldn't call that bad.

33rd per capita because a lot of provinces started social distancing early and don't need as many tests.

Saskatchewan only has 271 cases, and that is with Saskatoon having a population of over 325k now.

So many provinces are landlocked and as such don't get as many international visitors.

A place that has almost no active infection rate.

Do you not see the problem?
