I will prefix this by saying I'm p well paid and typically have decent hours. I've been doing it for just over 2 years now too. So in terms of staying in my comfort zone, there is a certain appeal to sticking around.

The work is okay generally but I do a real grab bag of stuff compared to others who work in my office and I feel like while this is good in the sense that I can point to experience in a few different things, it feels like what I generally too is almost too varied to lend itself to being really good at specific types of work. Idk of that even makes sense but whatever.

My boss is fairly amicable most of the time but he's just lowkey sort of odd too. So I don't think we'll ever be best friends or anything lol. He has a very annoying habit of couching everything in rhetorical questions too. But what's annoyed me the past 6 months is the total lack of positive reinforcement. Like I was at home on Christmas eve sending emails about closing off a matter and it got done and I was mostly happy with how it went. Came back into the office after Christmas and his sole reference to it was to a tiny error in something that everybody noticed and corrected immediately. It's not like he's aggressively negative but he just never seems to acknowledge the myriad good things I or other team members do. Now he's telling people they need to be more proactive in leading work themselves which, while I do agree with, seems to ignore the fact that it's hard for us to instantly become experts at stuff we do like once or twice a year at most. It's annoying.

So yeah idk

I think hitting on both would be unlikely unfortunately. Could def get paid a lot more tbh but that tends to bring other obligations with it. I think I'd be OK with longer hours with a better team and leadership set up tbh

Also I knew this topic would immediately entice troll accounts talking about how I should be glad to have any sort of job or whatever lol
