They aren't NEETs. The first thing every show opens with is what the person does for work

As someone who is very good at trivia, the questions on Jeopardy the show are written in a way that even someone who doesn't know the specific fact will be able to deduce the answer via context clues.

what would happen if a Jeopardy contestant is unemployed? Would they actually say that?

makes you wonder how many Jeopardy contestants are unemployed and they just say a fake job title.

They'd be introduced as "self-employed", "entrepreneur", "freelancer" etc

They give you a list of subjects to go over. Not all of what they give you will be actual questions, and there are a few surprises, but it's nothing insane. The show would be boring if people were constantly getting answers wrong.

contestants are not given a study guide or what the categories are or any information about the game they are going to be participating in before the game begins. i don't know where people get these ideas from. they are wrong. contestants are however put through a rigorous try-out process consisting of an online test, in-person test and practice games.

Rachel Lindgren, yeah, she did very well in her regular run and then participated in the most recent tournament of champions.

100% wrong!

They give you stuff to study before the actual show but it's all random on what questions will be asked. So if you have a good memory you'll win.

Ever heard the saying a mile wide but an inch deep? Thats jeopardy. If youve got a good memory, you dont need a huge understanding of much. All the categories are asking pretty basic stuff.

Jeopardy does not provide contestants with any semblance of a study guide. You are put through a rigorous qualification process to determine first and foremost that you are knowledgeable enough to warrant being on the program. But the entire point of Jeopardy is to have a well-rounded breadth (and ideally depth) of knowledge of various subjects; to provide a study guide would be antithetical to that. Contestants such as Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer have spoken about this.

Quite simply: you just have to know a lot of shit.
