Board 8 > Nintendo Switch Deals?

The fiancee has expressed in a Nintendo Switch so I'm going to pick her one up for Xmas.

I have no idea what the best deals out there are or if I should get her a Switch or a Switch Lite. She'd use it mostly portable but I'm guessing the Switch is still a better bet as there's always the option to hook it up to the TV still?

The best deal I've seen in a quick search is Gamestop is doing it for $300 and you get a $30 gift card with it. Does that sound about right or is there a significantly better deal out there?

You might be able to score a mediocre free game or a cheap accessory too, but yeah $30 gift card is near the best deal I've seen lately.

Got one during Black Friday and the best deal there was through Amazon which was $300 and $25 in Amazon credit after it shipped. So I'd say $300 and a $30 Gamestop gift card is a pretty great deal. Especially since when I was looking at Black Friday deals I read that Nintendo is pretty particular about lower its console prices for deals and such.

the Lite has some surprisingly good deals randomly

most recently Woot had a sale + coupon putting it at like $145 or so.

but i wouldn't trust the lite given the joystick issues lol

A lot of the Switch deals are for older models, which have a lower battery life than the newer switch models. I recall it being 6 hours compared to 8 on estimate, but could be mistaken.

That being said, I have an older model and I use it about 50/50 portable/docked and have rarely had issues where it's died on me and left me hanging. Just be aware of it and charge responsibly.

The one on Gamestop at least is marked as a V2 so I assume the newer version
