With all my Bethesda games, I go for lore friendly mods that don't break immersion. So, I'll be sticking with textures, lighting, UI, erc. I've installed a graphics extender and an unofficial game patch so far.

I haven't played it in great detail before. I died to some chuds under the first town when I first played, and never went back.

What about mods to make the combat less dicey?

After getting a baseline build of Morrowind set up, I started adding a few more mods. Imagine my surprise when base Morrowind doesn't support grass textures. The graphics extenders creates grass, but it's intangible like you're able to move through it. For some reason, one of the mods has static grass meshes that you can't install or activate, or else you can't walk through the grass. Took me a few tries to figure out how to make it work.

I want to go through this game as blind as possible, but I also want to understand the gameplay mechanics. I'm familiar with Skyrim, and vaguely familiar with Oblivion. I have next to no experience with Morrowind. I respect the fact that it tells you what buttons do you have to push, and then let you figure it all out on your own from there. Probably would help if I had the manual for this thing. Well, to Google.
