So far, I've read Sphere and Prey but I want to read Jurassic Park.

I've read Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Timeline, and Disclosure. Timeline and Disclosure were both pretty bad, The Lost World was all right, and Jurassic Park was genuinely good.

I pray god will curse the writer, as the writer has cursed the world with this beautiful, stupendous creation, terrible in its simplicity, irresistible in truth

Jurassic Park. Liked it way better than Congo, lost world, or eaters of the dead.

Pirate Latitudes doesn't get the praise it deserves IMO.

I also liked Jurassic Park but if you're looking to read it it reads like a B-list monster movie, rather than the actual movie that was made.

Dragon Teeth is really good. Not many people talk about it since it's his latest one, post-death, and followed two awful books.

Which brings me to you avoiding Next and State of Fear. Those are shit.

Andromeda Strain is interesting enough but it's a slog to get through. Space it out of you read it.

Most of the other responses are kinda how I feel. I felt Disclosure was at least fine and I really liked Timeline.

Also! The Great Train Robbery is his best. If you like heist films, you should read it. It's obviously less dense than his scientific works. More easily accessible to more readers.

Damn this topic made me remember how much I love Crichton.

Too bad most of the movie adaptations of his books haven't aged well at all.

Timeline was horrible when it came out, for being one of the only books ive read multiple times, the movie is the worst adaptation i have ever seen.

I wanted to watch the Sphere movie after finishing the book, but I read about how terrible it was.
