The necklace and hawaii is probably the equivalent of someone buying a game console for christmas. It's a decent gift but one I could drop monthly without breaking my bank. I'd rather not because there's other things I'd want to save up for/spend money on (hence why it's a christmas present) but it's no big deal to me. If it would take the entirety of your paycheck or a chunk of your savings I'd recommend not doing that. I'd still be salty, its more the principal of the matter.
