What are your favorite games and memories from the short-lived Dreamcast?

Sonic Adventure. Crazy Taxi.

I loved those games. To me, the Dreamcast was ahead of it's time.

I had one, but it just collected dust. The only game that I truly enjoyed on the system was Shenmue.

My mom basically flat out told me that I could only get a Dreamcast or a PS2 and she was only buying one system (I was 14 at the time)

I played Sonic Adventure 2 to death. Unlocked Green Hill Zone even.

Also, Soul Calibur 1 on Dreamcast is still the best Soul Calibur.

One of my favorite games for DC is Industrial Spy: Operation Espionage. I'm usually evangelizing it in DC topics, but it's a real-time heist simulator -- pretty unique for the time and even now. You control people with specialties (lockpicking, fighting, hacking) and have to direct them to the information/items while avoiding traps and security. Definitely not a major entry like Skies of Arcadia or Shenmue, but it's an interesting one that often slips through the cracks.

I never had a Dreamcast. At my jr/high school, some guys set one up in a storage closet. Played a lot of Power Stone that way. Even played Sonic Shuffle. I'd love to get one eventually just to have it in my collection.

What I found hilarious was going back to 1 after playing the shit out of 2 and seeing they didn't clean up the wonky mouth movements when they talked. Seeing Sonic's mouth jump all over the place while speaking had me on the floor.

I didn't know they came in that color; it looks like the way some SNES became discolored due to the plastic used in them.

Was there a black one besides the Sega Sports edition? My uncle had the Sega Sports one, I was always jealous of it but honestly I was grateful to just have one. My favorite game was PSO ver 2, but a close second was actually Toy Commander, I only had the demo for a long time and finally got it for my birthday one year.

I think the Sega Sports one was the only black version. I saw it at a retro store recently for the first time; I like the way it looks, but it was almost double the price of a regular Dreamcast.

Oof, that's pretty deceptive labeling then. Is it just the plastic naturally discoloring or do you think it's something else like cigarette smoke?

I remember the 9/9/99 marketing for the NA release was crazy. It was all over the place.

Seems like the exact type of joke a local game shop worker would use imo. My local retro game shop does silly signs and stickers like this.

There probably was, there were a ton of different models.
Mine I've modded with a see through purple shell, and changed the LED to blue.
I also have a Sonic sticker I want to put on the lid, but I want cutout some empty space on, so you can still see the disc spin.

Anyway, it has an amazing amount of Racing games, plenty of Fighting games, and great shoot 'em up Collection!

It's honestly an extremely wide range of games.

One thing I like the DC is it had that can-do attitude that still existed in the 90's.
In a way, maybe the 2000 didn't deserve The Dreamcast.

It was like the last hurrah for those 90's feels.

I saw a Dreamcast in a K-Mart ad that said Layaway $30. This was pennies compared to everywhere else so I started trying to save up. By the time I did (it was ten weeks' worth of allowance) they didn't have the deal anymore.

Probably a good thing tbh since I didn't know how Layaway worked and they probably wouldn't have signed up a kid anyway lol.

That was the closest I ever came to owning a Dreamcast, but it's all good these days since I have the Sonic Adventure games as digital rereleases and that was all I cared about anyway.

I can't at the moment. But is the one bottom middle, I got it from Playasia...or something like that, it was a while ago.
