Very good console. Played the shit out of Spyro, Tekken 3 and Harvest Moon. Shame that the more legendary games like the Chrono and Final Fantasy series weren't available where I live.

I don't currently own an actual PlayStation anymore, but I still play PlayStation games on my PS2 and PS3.

PS1 RPGs will always be my favourite era of gaming.

I didn't have a PS1 growing up (I was an N64 kid), but I had friends and family who did. My favorite game for the system was probably Soul Reaver or Blood Omen; I got really into the Legacy of Kain series in high school. I loved the dark atmosphere and Shakespearean dialogue.

I do have one now, but it's packed away. I have a backwards compatible PS3, so I can use it whenever I get the hankering to play a PS1 game.

My favorite PS1 memory was probably playing some wrestling game at a friend's house. I created a wrestler that was so badass that he "made Goldberg look like a sissy in panties and boots" according to my friend. That kid was the son of one of my dad's friends and we stopped going over there not long after that. I found out later that the kid had died in a car accident. He was a cool dude, and I'll always miss him.

Yes, my favorite console of all time. I still play it almost every day.

I had an entire cd case of rpgs, which was the only reason I bought the console.

Anything that involved action or even semi complex movement I played on the N64, all of it's games of that type were superior and had far better control.

The beginning of modern gaming IMO

The first time a CD-based console was actually worth a damn. I still have all my old RPGs. That's the generation where I really started taking an interest in the genre.

And coincidentally, I'm playing the PS4 version of SotN right now. It's probably my favorite game ever, and I play through it every few years.

Putting things like backwards compatibility/digital purchases/etc. aside the PS1 has maybe my favorite library of any system to date... the Spyro games were pretty much all I used mine for as a kid, though.

I had a Playstation but I spent most of that generation playing multiplayer games on the N64 and didn't really dive deep into the extensive library of the PS. I think I only owned like 4 or 5 games for it.

My first experience was borrowing a friend's PSX so I could play FFVII. I almost beat it. I ended up eventually getting my own with FFVIII, FFVII, and Soul Blade.

PS1 was straight up legendary when it came to JRPGs and survival horror games. Those also happen to be 2 of my favorite genres.

My first DQ. I don't think it's a good one to start with because it's so slow in the beginning, but I still loved it.

And I still maintain Grandia has the best turn-based JRPG battle sytem.
