Sometimes, like last night I suddenly feel like I fell asleep but I can still here my tv completely fine and my brain is active. It's just that my body feels like an unmovable brick for a few seconds before I can shake it awake. It's pretty intense but it's been happening for awhile and I feel confident I can always shake out of it.

I never connected it cause all things I've seen about sleep paralysis is about waking up and not falling asleep. But I've also experienced waking up with it, like 6 years ago was the last time.

Anyone have any experience with either version?

Btw, I never see anything unnatural like others have claimed. But when I woke up with it I had a logical fear of something being just out my view since I couldn't turn my head and check.

It's been a while for me, but yeah I would have it occasionally growing up and I had a streak, I dunno, probably close to ten years ago now, where I was having weird sleep issues like that semi-often for a few months, but then it went away.

I don't remember ever seeing anything weird as a kid, just not being able to move. As an adult, that was usually the case, but one time I could've sworn I saw a random dude, couldn't really make out a face because it was a darkened bedroom, but I he was wearing like a sports jersey and baseball cap, lol, just walk across the room in front of the bed. I tried to yell but couldn't move and finally managed to slur something out incoherently and it woke up my wife and then she was able to wake me up out of it, and I went to check the door and stuff because I could've sworn someone was in there, but nope, lol.

During that period I'd sometimes have "exploding head syndrome" as well, which is super fun. >_> I think I got used enough to all that stuff during that phase that it probably wouldn't bother me too much anymore if it happened again, but it isn't pleasant.

Can you explain what that exploding head thing feels like? I was on a plane, and during the drop, I felt a piercing feeling in my brain so intense I felt like it was gonna just shut down.

Also, it's crazy what a person can get desensitized to. The ability to adjust is downplayed by a lot of people who lived normal comfortable lives.

I've had sleep paralysis a few times. I'm awake, but my eyes are closed and I could feel my hands barely moving as I try to force myself awake.

What gets me is when my mind plays tricks on me making me think I'm actually getting out of bed. Like I can see and feel myself getting out of bed, but then a second or two later, I'm back in the position I started. It's weird.

Yeah, that seems even harder to explain. Sounds like you're not completely conscious and partly in the dream realm or something. I know Im completely conscious cause the tv syncs up with my body being frozen and me being completely awake once shaken out of it.
