when I was in high school, for the most part, I went to the same school, but for the 10th grade, I briefly transferred to another high school.

I end up meeting this one guy and we end up being friends.

I transfer back to my main school, and the dude is in my English class.

one day, at the end of the semester, I miss school, and when I come back, I end up being in the dude's group. and without even consulting me, they decide to do the project on the Rwandan Genocide.

my family's from Rwanda, and the dude from the beginning once met the king of Rwanda while he was still alive in Washington DC.

I always thought that was pretty interesting.

I wore a Challenger t-shirt on the day it exploded, didn't know it was launching that day so it was quite the coincidence and my classmates didn't miss any chance to make that observation... kinda messed up my young and impressionable mind for a bit afterwards.

Watching blues brothers 2,000

They were singing ghost riders in the sky and a super storm formed outside from several storm systems coming together. It was like 50 lightning strikes a second during it. Boomboomboomboomboom almost nonstop for a few minutes.

I cant remember the exact number so I may be exaggerating a bit but it was pretty cool and scary.

I always wanted to make a topic like this. I had several examples in mind but forgotten most of them. Here's one:

Back in 6th grade, I had my backpack on the floor during recess and I later realized that someone stole my Metrocard. I was distraught because the junior high was about a mile from home, so I would have had to do a lot of walking since I didn't otherwise have $1.50 in coins to get on the bus.

By sheer coincidence, my best friend/neighbor's sister happened to have exactly $1.50 in coins that she was going to give to a teacher (not sure why), but the teacher was absent that day. She gave it to me instead so I could get on the bus.

I was collecting the Return to Ravnica Magic set well after it had released. I walked past a group of people playing commander, and one had the RtR version of Chromatic Lantern in play, and a pile of Kaladesh/Aether revolt packs beside him. I say "is that up for grabs?" get a no. counter with "what if you hit the Masterpiece out of the packs?". which he then does, out of the first pack. 4320:1 chance, and a free card for me, lol.

Boom! That's right, this is all happening! You cannot change the channel now!
So... what did we learn?

Other coincidences are random (not widely popular) songs from the 90s popping into my head and then a car would pass by playing that song loudly seconds later.

On the bus, a 90s hip hop song popped into my head then I heard a kid near to my seat playing it loud enough for me to hear.

Mine is also related to a space shuttle disaster.

When we were growing up, my friend had a giant space shuttle wallpaper mural over his bed. The night before the Columbia disaster, I had dream where we were ripping down that wallpaper. I woke up to the news of the crash and was pretty freaked.

The first girl I hooked up with in college (she was also a freshman and lived in my dorm) turned out to be the ex-girlfriend of a member of the fraternity I rushed and eventually joined; they were both born and raised in the same small town four hours drive from the college. He was a pretty unstable guy, leading me to believe that it was water under the bridge when it really wasn't, and undermined me for several years after that.

We went to Las Vegas in the summer years ago for vacation. My sister's classmate happened to go to Las Vegas too on the exact same week as us and also stayed at the exact same hotel as us (she saw him and pointed him out).

I was hit by a car 11 years ago and was found on the side of the road by an off-duty cop.......who just happened to have an EMT traveling behind him.

Soon after, I was transported 400 feet by ambulance to a nearby church, which happened to have a lawn big enough for a helicopter to land and bring me to the hospital.

My first serious girlfriend and I were talking about our favorite Marvel superheroes (this is before MCU films, and neither of us were really big into comics or anything) -- and we both agreed we like Silver Surfer the most.
At the time I worked at a mall as a porter - and once a month there'd be makeshift stands with people selling comics, cards, toys, etc. - just memorabilia stuff. I remembered the first edition of Marvel cards had a Silver Surfer hologram - and the packs were only like $2 each or something. I bought 3 packs and the very first card in the very first pack was the Silver Surfer hologram.

I mailed it to her with a mix tape and some other shit.
Years later someone broke in her car, stole her wallet, and with it the Silver Surfer hologram :(

I was friends with a girl since first meeting her while we were in high school, but our friendship had soured after a decade. A few months later, I had hired a model who then cancelled on me and instead of finding a replacement, I decided to just go home. As soon as I got out of the train station an hour later, I literally bumped into that girl who was my friend as she was passing by the train station. We started talking and that rekindled our friendship.

So if that model never cancelled on me, my friendship with the girl would have been over at the time.
