In the heat of the moment, he wouldn't have thought up a wish like that.

Of course he's also short sighted since, at least in the animated movie, he wastes his wishes when he could have gotten what he wanted with the latter.

Who needs to be Sultan, when you can be the most powerful sorcerer in the world? You can just force the old Sultan to give you the title. You could also force someone to "love" you instead of trying to waste your last wish making Jasmine fall in love with you.

And if magic can't do the trick due to mechanics...you could always just find a hot girl who's attracted to your power, or just make Jasmine your slave because Jaffar probably doesn't have any moral issue against that.

Because free Genies are significantly less powerful, I legitimately don't know whether Jafar would be more powerful as a freed Genie, or as the "most powerful sorcerer" like with his second wish.
