just wondering how common it is to have a connection now to a shooting, in modern america

I graduated from a school in 2001 that experienced a mass shooting in 2014. I didn't know anyone who was there though. though my youngest sister WOULD have been there if my family hadn't moved to another town before she entered high school. so she ended up in a different high school than the one I graduated from

Nah, but some random hoodlums shot a dude in the hand after a basketball game at my high school.

They were from the other team's school, and nobody died.

damn. he must have been pretty scared. that was a bad one

While not America, about a week after Columbine a school shooting happened in Alberta and my mother knew the shooter personally. She was ashen for a week.
