https://www.reddit.com/r/NEET/comments/d37db1/first_week_of_new_job_i_fainted_on_the_shop_floor/

First week of new job, I fainted on the shop floor.

It's just a retail job but they are bombarding me with training way too fast, and making me serve customers even though I have no idea what I'm doing or know anything about the product. The customers ask me questions and I just have to say sorry I don't know like an idiot it's embarrassing. They expect me to know all about their 5 different computer systems and know all about the product after a couple of days.

My anxiety got so bad today I had a stress induced panic attack, felt like I couldn't escape and I just blacked out and came too lying on the floor in a cold sweat with my manager asking if I was ok. I went out back and they asked me if I could keep working and then they let me go home because I just didn't answer. Normally if I have a panic attack at home I can sit down and get through it, but in a shop under blaring uv lights with chaos around me, customers getting angry because I can't answer their questions, and no option to leave, that's the worst possible place for someone like me.

I'm so exhausted already
I have to go back tomorrow, I don't know what I'm going to do, my parents are forcing me to work they said they will kick me out if I quit.

It gets better after a few days. No matter what the job, if you're doing a new job for the first time you're always gonna be nervous.

I don't get how kids can grow up being so inept/unable to hold down a job.

The training is a combination of both, while I'm willing to admit I really don't care I'm obviously trying to concentrate and learn but honestly after a few minutes I realize I'm thinking about a movie or video game and have just missed the last 30 seconds of what they were telling me.

So homeboy doesn't know how to do his job because he doesn't pay attention. That's no ones fault but his own.

I can actually relate. I've never been a NEET, but as for receiving no training for a job and then being thrown head-first into it... that's a shitty as hell feeling. Customers ask you things, and you feel like a dumbass for not knowing, customers get mad and shit, and it's really not your fault but you still feel bad.

Jobs are getting shitty about not training their employees. I had to work at Lowe's for a year before I was comfortable approaching customers, because they taught me nothing and I had to slowly learn as I went.

So are we supposed to shame him for trying to do better?

I don't even know if he was actually trying to do better when he wrote that his parents are forcing him to work. Seems like his go-to reaction was to quit, but he can't under threat of getting kicked out of the house.

That sucks TC, but its normal to feel lost at a job at first. Now, Ive had jobs where it never quite felt right but the good jobs Ive had, Ill look back a few months into it and remember how shockingly out-of-my-depth I felt early on.

I'm not being judgmental, though. I think this is a great first step for him as painful as it is, but it definitely doesn't seem like it was entirely his own choice to make this step. That's all I'm pointing out.

It's not the TC. TC was reposting what a guy said on r/NEET.
