But it's a shame it was tied to a franchise with different priorities The story and writing was edgelord nonsense. Vergil's turn at the end was one of the dumbest 'twists' I've ever seen. The boss fights were fun spectacles but compared to the older games they were shallow, easy and incredibly scripted. I loved that Fox News parody fight but it's basic in a gameplay sense. If this was a new IP these wouldn't be issues as it would stand on its own. It reminds me a lot of Hitman Absolution (it even has similar coloring to it at times). A solid game in its own right that isn't a great follow up and goes weirdly edgelord based on some trend I don't think ever truly existed.
