OG 5 should already be good friends. And they are role models for other people. Jason teaches competitive martial arts. Billy the genius learns how to fight from Jason. Zack is the cool guy with bitches and dance moves. Trini smart too and practices kung fu. Kimberly the gymnastics pro.

Tommy should be a transfer student. He would be expelled from his previous school for fighting. He's good at it and has somewhat of a bad reputation. Not exactly a role model like the others.

That would translate well on screen for the Evil Green Ranger saga. The original five were chosen for their good heart personalities while Tommy was chosen for his ruthlessness and brutality. Eventually, the rangers turn him to their side and he becomes the strongest of them all.

This is what I want to see for a movie.

This time around, they should go with an original cast. (Essentially what they should've done the last time around.)

The Power Rangers team was pretty diverse to begin with and that has been maintained and expanded upon from generation to generation. But it seemed unnecessary to keep the names of the original cast of characters when, to a person, each got changed in one way or another.

And it'd be doubly silly if they once again shuffled everybody's sex, orientation, or ethnicity while still calling them Jason, Zach, Billy, Kimberly, and Trini. If the leader of the team is a black gay male, don't call him Jason. Call him Michael. The story will work just the same without the hokey nostalgia bait of calling him Jason.

Besides, having an original team might even open the door to making the team leader a girl.

I made this topic concerning a remake that ignores the most recent racebending film. I would prefer the original genders, races, etc. Although I'm actually okay with Billy being gay to honor David Yost being gay.

However, IF a sequel to Power Rangers (2017) was to be made, I would love to see a girl Tommy Oliver. They already changed a lot. This would be very interesting to see.

If I'm correct, isn't a sequel for the 2017 still happening?

You can make one or two changes. But if you're going to change everybody, you might as well make it an original team. It's not like later seasons didn't replace all of the cast members anyway.

And, yeah, I'd be fine with Billy being gay. If I were directing, I'd ask him first though to make sure he was cool with it. Considering he left the show because he was tired of putting up with homophobia, it might be more like salt in an old wound than any sort of a tribute.

Idk about great. The martial arts was whack. Zords were cool, but the megazord was lame. Plus how Goldar had zero lines smh. Zordon, like everyone else, seemed out of character.

Loved Rita tho.

I actually recall reading how Yost tried to play the character with a straight sexuality, so he would rather Billy stay straight. Might have dreamed that up tho.

But I agree that if they are going to change everyone's backstory, might as well invent new characters and not sully the OGs.

Ok, you're right about the megazoid, and goldar (that was bullshit), but for what it was worth it was a good fm. Worthy of a sequel. This reboot of a reboot is bullshit.

Yeah it's a shame they don't just build on the universe already created. But since they're rebooting again, I'm hoping they stay true to the original MMPR. That is, the OG rangers are not part of the Breakfast Club.

I don't know David Yost's feelings on the situation, but that's how George Takei felt about Sulu from Star Trek.

Plenty of room for growth. These are still teenagers suddenly with superpowers and a responsibility to save the world.

Jason was the only one to really heed the call. Everyone else didn't believe they were the ones to be PR. Billy overcoming his beta maleness. Kimberly just wanting to be a teenager. Their relation to Bulk and Skull.

Idk why people think goody two shoes don't can't be interesting. It's doesn't have yo be all dark and gritty.

Besides, how I described Tommy to be introduce is a perfect way to mix it up. There's also the rivalry with Red vs Green. Potential love triangle between Red Pink and Green. Things like that. Lots of things to fill the movie up with. And I haven't even gotten to the bad guys yet.
