I don't think it's FDIC insured either. You don't have to buy a full Bitcoin. You can buy $1 worth if you want. As a currency it can not be ensured by the FDIC. I think US exchanges i.e. Coinbase are insured by the FDIC but I'm not positive on that. It's not recommended to keep your coins on exchanges though. To answer your question, it's by far the best performing asset of the last 10 years. Then again,that doesn't guarantee it will continue to outperform the market. --- I am the Cheese! It's also fully seperate from banks (this is why banks demonize cryptocurrency - they don't get anything out of it. Other than that, it's not that different than investing in anything else (like stocks).
