I still don't get the whole "memelands" thing

I'm playing 2 right now and there have been no meme references so far except for the names of some optional challenges

That said the writing is poop and I really hope they dial it back a lot in 3 (lol not happening)

borderlands 2 had possibly the worst writing ive ever seen in a video game, at some points i played it without sound because the dialogue was so embarrassing
