In some ways we're still stuck in the 1800s with how poor our quality of life has become. And it's only getting worse with automation, outsourcing, job loss. We need a president to bring us into the modern age:

- Universal basic income
- 100% free post secondary education
- Free health care, dental etc
- Free video games + netflix subscription

Universal basic income

It's a necessity with automation or we'll be all starving to death while oligarchs are waited on by machines.

This is where you lost me. By 2020, video games will be so ridden with microtransactions that the simple $60 buy-in to the game will be pointless.

Making games (and Netflix) free is not enough in today's modern society. We will also need a president who isn't afraid to go out and find the money to give each citizen a microtransaction/DLC stipend as well.

How about instead of all of that we give you a Hulu subscription.

Id rather have Netflix

Lately I've been starting to think about a halfway solution between capitalism and socialism, something that maybe right and left wingers could compromise on. The problem is, of course, that traditional Democrats are just as tied to the capitalist, corporate donation, mega-wealth oligarchy as the Republicans, so they have no reason to get away from it.

But anyways, what about if instead of universal basic income, we just guarantee a decent living for free. Healthcare, housing, clothing, food, electricity, internet, running water, etc.. All of that is free, and high quality. Everything else is now the economy. Video games, makeup, designer versions of the thing listed above, etc..

The problem with for sale basic neccessities is that you have no real bargaining power. How much is too much for a heart transplant? A hot meal when you haven't eaten for 4 days? A warm place to stay at night? $10? $1 million? You'll pay whatever you have to get it, because you need it. If you take that away, I think alot of the greedy, gross aspects of capitalism disappear because what's left is all wants; you will have real bargaining power to dictate fair prices on the open market.

I don't know. It's just a thought. I'm sure it has problems, but I believe it to have a lot less than the current system. One argument I will preempt, however, is that we can't afford it. That's nonsense. We have the resources to do anything if we really want to. The pentagon "lost" $8 trillion and nobody blinked an eye. And that's just what they want to tell us about. If we really wanted to guarantee a quality living for all, we could.

Not starving to death is a basic human right. Even if it involves a handout.
