Started second week of wagecuck job: This isn't sustainable

The first week went ok-ish, and the weekend came around quickly. Then I blinked and it was time for week 2

The weekend was a joke that went by so fast it was shocking, you have your first day off, then you are thinking "i'm back in tomorrow"

Today I didn't get out on time because the tills didn't balance (eventually we figured it out) So i missed the bus and had to wait an hour for the next one, ended up getting home at 8.00

I felt like shit getting up this morning, I have to get up at 6:50 in order to get to the bus stop on time, The busses are not reliable so I have to get the one before the one I need in case something goes wrong. I felt drained to hell, and when I get home I don't really even want to do anything, like I didn't even log into my MMO and do dailies today, I was that wrecked, i've just been watching shit on youtube.

Anyway sorry for the rant. I really need to hang in there for probably minimum of 2 months, but ideally 3, but i'm already concerned that each day is turning into an endurance act more than anything.

It's a self fulfilling prophecy of thinking you'll hate work, and then the only work you can get is awful minimum wage drone work rather than an actual interesting and engaging job that challenges you mentally. I mean, I expect pretty much everyone who works unskilled things like retail, food service or call centers hates them.

Well I disagree with that and I'm an engineer. It's just as soulless and boring as my former high school burger flipping job.

Your job sounds fucking awful though

You seem to have a very limited view of the world where "because my job is shit = every job is shit"

You've come on here and talked about your 'rectangle drawing jobs'

You might have an engineering degree but what you're actually doing is more suitable for CAD operators who took two year technical programs at a community college.

It's your life dude - if you want to spend it doing well paid monkey work that's as satisfying as flipping burgers, all the power to you.

There's lots of opportunities out there for engineers to do interesting work. You're going to have to apply yourself though and get yourself out of your half-comatose state you are currently drifting through life in however. Every year that goes by where you're drawing rectangles is going to make it harder to get out of the rut.

LOOOOOOOL

I've been doing everything from stupid web apps, to mobile apps, to embedded development, to machine learning, to cloud services, and more. My experience runs all over the place. While there are bursts of fun and creativity it always ultimately results in boredom. It's inherent in any job. You may be able to escape by building your own business, but then you're just dealing with another set of clients and now you've taken on a shit-ton of risks.

The only real solution is to retire so you can work on whatever you feel like working on and abandon projects (temporarily or otherwise) you don't feel like working on anymore. No deadlines, no shitty projects, and no clients with sometimes really stupid requirements. The dream job is a myth.

Nah headhunters call me up all the time and say I have a dynamite resume. I'm working on $1MM-$10MM+ projects and in four months I will be able to become a certified project manager.

As the above poster pointed out, it just all inherently boring, that's why it's called "work" and not "fun."

I'm sure you never get bored at your job of being a fluffer, but the fact remains that a dream job that doesn't feel like work is the exception, not the rule. There's a reason why it's called a DREAM job.

This. Assuming you don't just waste all your money (or worse, end up in a situation where your costs balance or outweigh your income), things get better over time as you build up more and more wealth. Sure, most people won't become millionaires, but most people can - if they try - get to the point where they're living a very comfortable life.

The issue is just that more and more people are too concerned with the "right now" to think ahead and make that happen.

Agreed. It was also frustrating because you now had the time to hang out with friends but no money.

I was without a job for about 6 weeks in 2008 and I spent most of that time playing video games, watching the Olympics and stuffing my face. I gained like 15lbs.
