For the purpose of this scenario. You see your niece and a random baby drowning. You can only save one. But they have special blood that could change the world forever.

Your Niece's blood: Contains the cure for cancer

The random baby's blood: has the power to destroy any astroid/comet coming to Earth.
All scientists have to do is shoot a vial of blood at the astroid and it will disappear instantly.

So your niece or the baby?

Oh and the one you don't save will be lost forever to the sea. So getting the body for the blood will be impossible.

We have nuclear missiles that are powerful and accurate enough to deal with asteroids, and we'd likely get at least a couple of decades warning of a strike which would likely be enough time to develop a plan B if plan A fails.

On the other hand, we haven't had much luck at all finding cures for cancer.

This should be an obvious choice.
